Many children in Miss Davey's class have now moved onto getting books from the library as part of the Accelerated Reader scheme and will no longer be choosing coloured book banded books.
The children will have been given a number (located on the spine of the book eg. 1.7, 2.0). This is their current level of book to choose from the library.
Once the children have recorded that they have read the book 3 times (just the same as on the book banded books) they will need to change their book. Before changing their book, they will need to complete a short quiz on the Chromebook in school. They will be shown how to do this when they are ready for quizzing.
The quizzing gives Miss Davey a real clear idea of their comprehension of the book. As a school, we expect children to be at an average of 85% when quizzing books. If they are below this or consistently not doing well with their quizzes, Miss Davey will be in contact with parents.
Once they have reached 90% or 100% on a quiz, they will tick a sheet at school. Once the book level has two ticks (meaning they have got 90 or 100% on the quiz) they will be able to move up a point. For example they get 100% on two books on 2.1, they will then move up to 2.2. This is supported by staff members in school.
