Team 2 Kent's Cavern Trip

This week, as part of our Stone Age theme, Team 2 travelled to Kent's Cavern in Torquay.

Kents Cavern Limestone was formed somewhere under the sea just south of the equator around 385 million years ago!

We started our day with an exciting woodland forest trail. While on the trail, we explored lots of different elements of Stone Age life such as hunting gathering, fire making, fishing and medicine making! We also hunted for Stone Age animals including giant elk, bears, wolves and a woolly mammoth! We were able to handle different historical artefacts such as a neanderthal skull, animal skins and we saw a woolly mammoth tooth!

Later on, we explored the ancient cave and learnt about how early humans lived there thousands of years ago. We learnt about how the cave was used for shelter and how the different tools used in The Stone Age were crafted from flint and stone. We even had the experience of the lights being turned off so we could experience the cave like the people in the Stone Age would - this was exciting and a little scary!

We had a fantastic time and it really helped to bring our history lessons to life. It was an unforgettable experience that deepened our appreciation for prehistoric times. Take a look at some of the photos from the day below!
